Why this happens

What we do about it
Step 1 — Secure everything first
Before anything else: get admin access to hosting, domain, app store accounts, and any third-party services (payment processors, email, analytics). If you don't have owner access, request it now, in writing, from whoever does.
Step 2 — Document promised vs. built
Pull together the original scope, contract, or spec, and compare it honestly against what's actually in the app today. Gaps become your real punch list.
Step 3 — Get a paid audit before any new code
A written report on what exists, what's broken, what's salvageable, and what a real fix costs — before you commit a dollar to new development.
Step 4 — Get a fixed quote, not an hourly guess
Once the audit tells you the real state of things, a fixed quote for finishing or fixing the app is possible. An hourly rate on an unknown codebase is a blank check.
