Custom middleware, background jobs, or a specific package version Lovable's generation flow doesn't support — all trivial once the code lives in a normal repo.
Why this happens
Builder tools bundle your database, hosting, and generation flow together on purpose — it's what makes the fast first version possible. The tradeoff shows up later: your production app is running on someone else's opinionated setup, with your own account access to the details often partial at best.
Migrating doesn't mean rebuilding. Supabase is already Postgres with a normal API in front of it — the database itself moves largely intact. The work is in re-pointing auth, storage, and edge functions cleanly, then deploying the frontend to Vercel under your own domain and account.
